It had been one hell of a morning on the first day of school for Lucas. He was almost over joyed that it was finally his lunch period. For one of the first times that day he could finally relax. The only classes he had that afternoon were math, English, physical education, and study hall. Math and English were two of his strongest classes from over the years. Physical education to him at that point was a joke, considering that once basketball started he would hardly have to go to that class for a good while. So that only really left the dreaded study hall, and only because he knew that on the first day of school he would not have all that much to do during it.
Lucas made his way over to one of the tables and sat down. He hoped that his friends would come and join him soon enough. Although he probably would not care all that much at first if it was someone he usually did not hang around with. Lucas was a little exhausted from trying to stay awake during his morning classes and figured he probably would not want to waste too much energy running off some person that was not in his crowd today. Of course girls in his mind were almost always welcomed to sit with him regardless of what crowd they were in. After all you never knew just who someone was until you got to know them, and Lucas knew that all too well.
So as he waited to see who would join him Lucas sat there eating. From time to time he glanced down at his shirt. It was one of the ones that he had not worn since around the time him and Brooke had started dating. After she had decided to take charge of what he was to wear every day while they were dating it had gotten thrown by the wayside for awhile. Now though he was just glad to be able to wear the shirt again since it was one of his favorites. It was not all that special, just light blue t-shirt that he had for a decent number of years. When it was paired up with his favorite pair of blue jeans though there was not ready to deal with.

For Haley James she was on her lunch break which she loved the idea of. She of course already had her morning classes which were history, science, math and choir. Her math class was her first class in the morning and she was a little bit tired through her first half of her morning classes. Well that is through Math, Science and a little bit of History where she started to wake up some. Her last class before lunch was choir where she fully woke up and was happy about since she loved to sing a lot but didn't let any of her friends know about it at all. She had her brown hair in a low ponytail so that she wouldn't have to have it in her face all that much.
She was the last person to walk out of the choir classroom since she wanted to talk to the teacher and say that he was doing a good job again this year. Haley smiled at him before she walked out of the classroom with her shoulder bag on her left shoulder coming down and hitting her leg that was covered by jeans that where hiphuggers and show off her form a little bit. She got them and her blue spaghetti tank top when she and Rachel went shopping before school started up again. She liked the idea of being at school again but she doesn't let anyone know that she truly loves school.
Haley went out of the school and outside where she smiled at some of the people that said hey to her. When she went out of the school she looked around before she saw the blond hair dude named Lucas Scott. She is a cheerleader so she knew him. She went over to him and said "Hello Lucas." As she sat down at his table since she didn't need to be told that she couldn't sit there and hey she liked people knowing her even more then when they see her at games to help them cheer on their team. She is a very happy teenage girl and couldn't help but think that something good or bad might happen but she didn't care what well happen at all.
She also sat there waiting for Lucas to talk to her while she was looking around at the beautiful scenery around her. Well she also had some homework that night because all of her classes besides choir were academic. Her afternoon classes were English, Study Hall, and physical education. Which she couldn't believe that she still had to take it since she is a varsity cheerleader and she didn't want to take physical ed anymore but she couldn't help the school rules. And even though the season hasn't started off yet Hales still likes to show off her school spirit by what she is wearing.

Lucas looked over at the girl when she said hi to him. Her name was Haley and he had seen her around plenty. The brunette girl was usually attended the parties and rather well known amongst the popular crowd. Although he could not actually admit that he had noticed all that much about her in the past. She was an alright girl, he was sure, but the other girls usually half threw themselves at him and got his attention that way. "Well if it isn't little miss popularity," he commented. Lucas had said it that way to mess with her mind a little. "Where's your red-headed friend? I thought she two usually went everywhere together." He knew he was being a bit of a jerk, but by no means was he being all that serious about it. Just the same he was rather interested in her friend with the red hair that went by the name of Rachel.
Lucas then studied the girl more closely. Slowly he started to realize that Haley reminded him a good bit of his mother. That was probably why he had never really paid all that much attention to her. He was not interested in girls that out right reminded him too much of his mother. The brunette hair and brown eyes along with her build were what she had in common with his mother. He then looked around and wondered what Haley was even interested in. Was she just like all the other popular girls and just loved to shop and have fun? There was no way for him to be sure.
"So Haley," Lucas said while leaning over to her side of the table. "What do you like to do for fun?" A smirk crossed his lips as he asked her the question. "Well other than cheering and drinking at the parties." Sure he was behaving like one of cockiest jerks around, but that did not bother him in the least bit. That was his facade after all. "Don't worry either, I can keep a secret." Indeed he could keep a lot of the best secrets to himself. He was a master of doing just that for the most part. Although he did like using them for his own little sorts of fun and games from time to time when he got bored. It was not like he was some cold and heartless person though. No ever really got too hurt by what he did unless they were just too sensitive or a control freak.

Jack had went to school half awake. He had hazed through his first classes up until lunch. He had then rubbed his eyes and looked around for the first time. Every one had smiles on their faces, and people were glad to be in school. Jack never really liked school, except for the Computer classes, where he was the king. He had dragged his feet in to the lunch area, and looked around for a place to sit. Jack had usually sat out of the way and unnoticed for most of his High School life. But this year, he actually wanted to know people.
Jack made his way over the table of Lucas. He had seen him all around school, and have heard about him. He was generally known to not be so bad to new comers. He sat down with a glance at the girl sitting across from Lucas. When he was done talking to her, he said "Hey Lucas, nice to see you. I'm Jack Sparrow and many people call me Captain." He smiled, and pulled out his lunch. Maybe this social thing wasn't as hard as he though it would be.

Haley liked not being noticed by Lucas somewhat because she didn't really see anything interesting in him like a lot of people did. No all Haley sees in Lucas is a over-spoiled, jerk that doesn't really care about anything but himself. She raised an eyebrow at him when she heard him say "Well if it isn't little miss popularity," She just shook her head at him as she couldn't believe what she was hearing yes she is popular but she doesn't care if she is popular or not. Hales looked at him when she heard him say "Where's your red-headed friend? I thought she two usually went everywhere together." She looked at him with her one right eyebrow as she said "Do you mean Rachel cause if you do I haven't seen her since this morning when she picked me up for school."
She sighed as she then started to wonder where Rachel was cause she hadn't seen her since this morning and that was quite odd. Oh well maybe I well see her this afternoon in one of my afternoon classes. she thought since it could quite happen and she knew that it might as well happen. She also knew that Rachel liked Lucas and she would probably be jealous or ask her if Lucas said anything about her or something like that when hales told her that Lucas was asking about her. Hales also knew why she barely talked to Lucas during school because she didn't want to and during school she tries to be good and only talk to the people that she knows. She also doesn't really like Lucas all that much since to her he seems like the kind that hides behinds his father's money and looks and basketball.
When Lucas asked her what she did for fun she raised her right eyebrow again and said "That is none of your business Lucas Scott." As she gave him a small smile before she started to hum a tune that was in her head. Since she did have a tune in her head that she had for choir that day. When he said that he can keep a secret she said "Oh I don't doubt that Lucas but I still won't tell you what I like to do for fun at all." As she continued on humming. She took out a notebook from her bag and started to write a little bit. Hales really didn't care if Lucas can keep a secret she still didn't want to tell him about her secret passion of singing.
Hales looked at the person that came to their table. She noticed him around school before but he usually didn't talk to anyone.
((I well add some lyrics later to the song that she is writing which well be probably Halo or another one of her songs that Bethany has!! It's funny I am watching pirates of the Caribbean right now and I just have to laugh at the fact that jack Sparrow is in here.))

"Yes, I meant Rachel," he told her. Lucas was rather certain that she could of cared less though. She was certainly giving him a hard time. He just kind of let her do her thing. Studying her he knew would give him some insight to what she would not tell him.
In the meantime though an interesting character came over. Sure Lucas had seen glimpses of this guy around, but he still could not help but laugh at him. "Do I know you, Mister Captain Jack Sparrow?" His laugh grew louder. This guy really had to learn a thing or two Lucas thought to himself, especially if he wanted people to think that he was cool. "I get the likeness, but..." He started to laugh again. Lucas just could not help himself. "Captain? It's just too much."
Lucas then turned his attention back to Haley. Mainly just because he had to try to stop laughing so hard. He noticed that she had a notebook that she seemed to be writing in. So maybe she was more like himself in at least one way. He sure did love to write, but he never dared to write anything that he felt passionate about in public. It would most likely damage his image too much. So he moved closer to try to get a look. "So what are you writing about?" He whispered to her. Lucas was genuinely interested although something told him that she would never believe that he could be.

Haley didn't care what he said since she really did have no clue about where Rachel is at all. Since Rach told her that she well meet her at Lunch and here it is Lunch and she still hasn't seen Rachel at all. She really didn't care what Lucas or anyone thought of her really well that is unless its about her singing or school work.
She looked at the guy that she still couldn't believe would have the guts to come over here to talk to Lucas Scott the most popular guy in the school. She stopped humming when she heard him say his name and his nickname captain. Hales couldn't help but laugh since it was pretty much funny though. She tried not to laugh so she looked down at her notebook and smiled at the words there. What she wrote so far is I love the time and in between The calm inside me In this space where I can breathe.
She smiled at that since she loved to write music and she knew that when she got home she could play on her piano or guitar to get some type of music going with it. She smiled at it but she jumped slightly when she heard Lucas ask her what she was writing. She put her notebook against her breast as she said "That is again none of your business Lucas." As she continued on humming slightly and wishing that she could sing and see if the lyrics were good or not.

Jack looked at Lucas with a smile. The insults rolled off Jack like water, and he just laughed as well to counter any bad rough between them. He took out his sandwich and took a bite as Lucas inquired the pretty lady as to what she was writing. "Maybe she doesn't want to tell you what she's writing, ever thought of that?" he said, with a smile on his face.
He took another bite and studied Lucas. He wasn't all that bad. And he knew sooner or later he would out right reject him or give him a chance.
Jack Sparrow looked over at Haley. "My name is Jack. What's yours? Is that music your writing? I love to play the guitar," Jack said. He smiled and continued eating.

Lucas could not help but wonder who this guy Jack thought he was. Normally he would of given the guy something to think about for his first comment, but Lucas had thought differently about it after the guy had asked her what Lucas had with different words. Maybe just maybe this guy could be of some use he figured. Lucas could not figure out why if Haley was writing music lyrics though that she would feel she would have to hide that. Besides, he was one to appreciate a good song lyric with truth behind it. That was in his opinion what the pop music scene was missing for the most part, truth and genuineness. He would of felt the same way about Jack being able to play the guitar, but he was not sure if the guy was just trying to make points or something. Not too mention that he still could not get over how the guy's nickname was Captain.
"Oh I think it is my business, if it's lyrics that you're writing." Lucas eyed her and then her notebook with a mixture of delight and intrigue. He then reached across the the table and touched his hand to her cheek. "I just don't understand why you would feel you need to hide something that could only help you." Indeed it was one of those things that he as the most popular guy in the school really felt made her worthy of all of her popularity at that very moment. Although he knew that his peers had other reasonings for making her so popular. Sometimes their reasons did not make much sense to him, but in general it never really mattered to him. "Maybe I've been paying too much attention to the wrong best friend," he added with a smile. That was also when he figured that maybe she did not remind him too much of his mother. Or at least that it was not a bad thing that she reminded him of her. His mother was a rather extraordinary woman that he highly respected after all.

Haley looked at the two boys near her as she just shook her head some. She heard Jack tell her his name and ask what is hers along with what she is writing. She sighed as she said to Jack "Well my name is Haley which I still can't believe that you don't know since we are in the grade and that we see each other mostly everyday." She smiled at him but not to much. She then answered his question "And it's also none of your business with what I am writing either Jack. And I guess its cool you can play the guitar." She went back to humming and looking at her lyrics on her page. Hales didn't really care with what jack could do since she could also play the guitar and she could also play the piano as well. She loved to play both the instruments but she won't let anyone know since not everyone her best friend Rachel Gatina knows about her secret passion of singing and playing either of her two instruments that she has. Well no one really does since she won't let anyone know because she won't let her secret passion to mix with her popular life either.
Well that is until she heard Lucas say "Oh I think it is my business, if it's lyrics that you're writing." She looked up from her notebook as she said "Lucas are you positive that I am writing lyrics or are you just going to assume that is what I am doing from what Mr. Jack here has said." As she smiled at him. She looked down again at her notebook well that is until she felt Lucas's hand on her cheek. She looked up at him while she heard him say "I just don't understand why you would feel you need to hide something that could only help you." She sighed as she said "I hide it because I don't think that anyone needs to know about what I can do and I like to keep some stuff about my life a secret from mostly everyone including you and Rachel." As she smiled at him somewhat before removing his hand from her cheek. After she did that she looked around the place making sure that Rachel wasn't there yet. She sighed as she wasn't. She didn't really want to lose Rachel as a friend even though she was popular before Rachel came along as well.
Haley was popular because back in middle school everyone thought that she was beautiful and still is beautiful so that is why she is still popular. She heard Lucas say "Maybe I've been paying too much attention to the wrong best friend," She shook her head and said "No I don't think so Lucas. I think you have been paying attention to the right friend." She looked down again as she wrote down some more lyrics for the song she was writing. With her other lyrics she wrote down: I believe there is a distance I have wandered to touch upon the years Reaching out and reaching in Holding out Holding in
She smiled at the lyrics since she liking the music so far and she would love it if she could go somewhere by her self and sing them. Haley loved to write music but she won't be able to out in public since she doesn't want to anyone to know. Well here she is writing lyrics in public but she didn't want anyone to read them at all.

Jack looked at Haley James with a new light. This girl was really, really weird. She was spastic and wrote lyrics. She was redundant and had a friend named Rachel. Jack was already madly in love. But he didn't show it around Lucas, because he knew Lucas could kick his ass. Jack instead looked over to Lucas. "So, man what are you doing later? Maybe we could hangout." he asked nonchalantly, then finished up the last of his meal.

Part of Lucas really did wonder who Haley thought she was fooling. She was being so defensive about it all that it only confirmed to him that she was doing just what both of the guys had suggested she had been doing. "Well I was assuming you were, but you just confirmed it beautiful." Lucas had a flirtatious smirk on his face now. Of course her last comment caught his attention more than the others. He figured that was her way of telling him that she was not interested in him, but that Rachel was. That would figure he thought to himself. Just as he started to crush on her he had to learn that he was crushing on the wrong best friend. Sure he had known Rachel liked him and she was popular, but he did not think Rachel had as much substance as Haley.
This was all new to him. He had really never had to deal with someone not being interested in him. It was not a feeling he liked either. Actually, he hated the feeling. It stung, and that was one of the most unpleasant feelings he knew of. "Are you seriously telling me that you don't have a thing for me?" Lucas really had a hard time accepting the idea that some female peer did not have some sort of crush on him.
He then refocused his attention over to Jack. The guy really did seem a bit delusional. "You really want to hangout, huh?" Lucas did not understand who's leg this guy was trying to pull, but Lucas Scott did not hangout with just anyone. If he did, his friends would do their best to set him straight. "Why the hell would I want to hangout with you?"

Haley knew that she probably wasn't fooling anyone by her defensiveness but she really didn't want anyone to know about this side of her really. When she heard what Lucas said she narrowed her eyes at him. She loosened up her eyes a little bit but not by much when she saw his flirtatious smirk on his face. Which she said "Lucas don't even try that on me since that won't even work on me." At her last comment though she could tell that wasn't what he wanted to hear but she didn't care she wasn't really all that interested in him at all. And even if she was Rachel would be pissed at her for liking Lucas.
When she heard him ask her "Are you seriously telling me that you don't have a thing for me?" She raised up her left eyebrow before saying "yes Lucas that is what I am saying that I don't have a thing for you at all." As she said that she was looking Lucas in the eyes so that he can fully understand the power beneath her words. Since she didn't have a crush or anything in that matter related to Lucas. Of course Haley sort of sees him as a big brother to her maybe but that is it.
When she heard what Jack said she also looked over at him. When she did look over at him she couldn't believe that he just asked Lucas Scott if he wanted to hangout. Haley never even heard anyone ask Lucas that unless you were a friend of his which wasn't a lot of people. She could probably hangout with Lucas because she was sort of his friend and they are in the same crowd. She just shook her head and didn't saw a word to neither Jack or Lucas.
