Haley was in a classroom one day during Lunch since she decided not to go to Lunch that day. Hales was wearing jeans and a pink shirt. She took her guitar to school with her that day and asked her choir teacher if she could keep it in there. After class that day for choir she asked her teacher if she could use the room to practice her music since her choir teacher is the only one that knows about her singing talents. He said yes and she smiled her thank you to him before she went to the teacher's office and grabbed her guitar case that was there.
Hales went back to the classroom and sat down in a chair before she got her guitar out of its case. She picked it up and strummed the strings on her guitar. She got her notebook out of her bag that has her lyrics on it. She looked around to make sure still that no one that she knows was there. She smiled to her self as she started to strum the strings on her guitar before she started to sing Elsewhere. "I love the time and in between the calm inside me in the space where I can breathe I believe there is a distance I have wandered to touch upon the years of reaching out and reaching in holding out holding in
I believe this is heaven to no one else but me and I'll defend it as long as I can be left here to linger in silence if I choose to would you try to understand
Oh the quiet child awaits the day when she can break free the mold that clings like desperation oh Mother dont you see I've got to live my life the way I feel is right for me you says is not right for you but it's right for me... I believe...
this is heaven to no one else but me and I'll defend it as long as I can be left here to linger in silence if I choose to would you try to understand"
While she was singing she didn't know that anyone came in until she heard someone clapping.

Nathan walked down the hallway, trying to get as far away from the cafeteria as he could. He knew that if he went in there, the guys from the Rivercourt would just bug him about joining the school team. For a week now, he had debated about whether or not he should join. That would mean being around his father and he wasn't sure if it was worth that. But the guys all thought he should join the team, despite his father.
He wasn't sure where he was going exactly, but it's not like that fact really mattered. He was about to turn and head toward his locker when he heard a voice coming from the choir room. Normally he wouldn't think anything about it, except for that that it was only one voice. Usually the voices coming from that room came in groups. He turned and walked back towards the room. Peeking in, he saw a girl playing the guitar. It was Haley James. She was in the popular crowd and was a cheerleader. Nathan never knew she could sing though. He took a few steps in the room and listened as she finished her song. He clapped softly and said, "wow, that was really good." This was taking a pretty big chance for him, since he definitely wasn't in the popular crowd. But just because she was popular, didn't mean she was mean like all the other populars. He just hoped she wasn't.

Haley continued on playing her guitar and singing until she finished. When she did she felt good about it because it was a good song like the rest of her songs that she has but is afraid to let anyone hear them besides her parents and sometime Mr. Burns(choir teacher). She sighed as she moved some of her brown hair but when she heard clapping her looked around and saw the other Scott brother there the unpopular one. Nathan Scott. She smiled at him when she heard what he said. Which was "wow, that was really good." She looked down as she blushed some with a smile on her face she said "Thanks Nathan. Well at least you think so which is as far as I am going with letting anyone hear me sing." After she said that she felt like a dork but oh well it was out and she couldn't do nothing about it.

Nathan was a little taken back when she knew who he was, but then he realized everyone did; everyone knew the story of Lucas and him. It embarassed him that everyone knew what had happened with their mothers and father, but it's not like there was anything he could do about. He focused back on Haley as she said 'Well at least you think so which is as far as I am going with letting anyone hear me sing.' He walked a little closer to her and stopped a few feet away. "If you don't mind my asking, how come you don't let people hear you sing?" he asked, sitting on top of a nearby desk. "You're really good," he added with a friendly smile.

After Haley said his name she saw his facial expression change. She knew him of course you wouldn't know him from everything that had happened with him, Lucas, Deb, Karen and Dan especially in a small town like this. She sighed when she heard him ask her "If you don't mind my asking, how come you don't let people hear you sing?" She looked up to see him only a few feet away from her. She sighed as she said "Because I am afriad of what they well think of me when they hear me sing. Which I know is kind of stupid considering the fact that I am one of the popular people at school." She added silently to her self even if I didn't want to popular. She shook her brown hair some before she heard him say "You're really good," She looked up at him from underneath her eyelashes when she heard that. She also felt her cheeks go a little bit warm as well. She didn't know what to say to that at all.

'Because I am afriad of what they well think of me when they hear me sing.' Nathan heard her say this and shrugged. "Well, why do you care what everyone else thinks?" He asked rhetorically. "If you love something, you should do it. And your real friends will understand." He knew that was easier said than done, but he really didn't know what else to say about the situation. He saw her blushing at his comment, and immediately tried to change the subject. He didn't mean to make things awkard. He quickly asked, "So, did you write that yourself?"

Haley heard him ask her why would she care about what everyone else thinks. She sighed as she thought about that well that is until she heard Nathan say that if she truly loved something she should go for it. She looked down at her lap and saw her guitar still sitting there. She put her guitar back in its case before she said "So I guess I am hearing Nathan Scott saying that if I truly love singing that I should go for it. I don't really know if I should since I am not that quite positive about my singing and how do I know this isn't a trick of yours and your friends?" She didn't know why she would say that end part but she was really wondering. She also knew why she hasn't let anyone else know about her passion either because she is afraid of not what they well think but about if she did then she might not be as popular anymore and she has been popular for most of her life she wouldn't know what to do if she wasn't that anymore. She smiled at him as she still knew that she was still blushing from his earlier comment. She heard him ask her if she wrote the song her self. She looked up as she said "Yup sure did. I wrote the beginning of it yesterday during school then finished it when I got home. So you really think it was good?" As she smiled up at him. She then thought about asking him what she should name the song since she hadn't named it yet. She asked him "So Nathan what do you think I should name this song?" Since she was curious with what he well say to that one.

Nathan watched her putting her guitar back in the case, still unsure on the subject. It was understandable that she was wary of pursuing the subject; doing something different was always hard. hearing her comment, he raised his eyebrows and gave her an amused look. "No offense, but my friends and I have better things to do than try to torture the populars," he said with a bemused grin. His facial expression became serious once again as he added, "Listen, I can't force you to do anything. But I really think you should sing if you want to. And I know what i said earlier--taking a chance with it--is easier said than done, but...will you just think about it?" The tone of the room became awkard, as it tended too whenever he said something serious, but the subject was quickly changed. 'so you really think it was good?' He nodded to answer her question. He couldn't help but smile when she smiled. Her smile was contagious; He just couldn't help but smile back. Hearing her last question, he felt the heat rise to his cheeks. "Oh...well, umm, I'm not to great with music," he stammered, taken back by her question.

While Haley was putting her guitar away she felt a pair of eyes watching her. Well for Haley it was a little hard doing something different when your best friend from middle school helped you get into the spot where you are today is kinda of hard doing anything but what you have been doing. When she said said her comment about this not being a trick of his and his friends but after she said that she looked at his face and saw both of his eyebrows up along with a amused look on. She heard his comment with a bemused look on his face when he was done. She said "Well I guess that is a good thing." As she smiled at Nathan. It also didn't really help for Haley with the popular crowd when she first came to Tree Hill High thanks to her sisters before her where also popular. After she said that comment she heard him say with a serious look on his face that he can't force her to do anything but that he thinks she should sing if she wants to. And that his earlier saying is easier said then done. He also asked her to think about it. Hales sighed before she said "Okay I shall think about it. And you will be the first to know about what I have decided."m nod his head to answer her question. She really beamed at that since this time she had someone from outside of her family or a family friend that said that. She continued on smiling even when Nathan was blushing while he answered her question which had Haley think that he was even more cute than before. She got off the chair she was sitting on and stood up at her full height of 5'3" and said "Don't worry about it I well think of something." At that she closed her guitar case but instead of going back to her chair she went over to a desk and sat on that instead. Hales really wanted to kiss Nathan just to see how it would taste like but knew that it would be awkward if she did that though since she didn't even know if he liked her the way that she is feeling for him.
